Noted hero Sree Vishnu’s new film, Arjuna Phalguna under the direction of Johaar fame Teja Marni is carrying decent expectations among the audience. Co-starring Amritha Iyer as the female lead, the film had hit the screens today. Let’s see how it fares.
Story:
To overcome financial problems, Arjun( Sree Vishnu) along with childhood friends from a small village in Godavari district decides to involve in drugs smuggling deal. In the process, the friends gang cross path with a tough cop Subbu( Subba Raju). How will the friends gang comes out of the entire mess? Forms the crucial crux of the film.
On-screen performances:
Sree Vishnu gave a decent performance in his boy-next-door character. He acting in a few emotional scenes bring depth to the proceedings.
Heroine Amritha Iyer is cute on-screen but her role lacks proper clarity. Adding to it, the chemistry between Amritha and Sree Vishnu is not showcased in a convincing way.
Subba Raju is not utilized properly. Jabardasth Mahesh and other guys who played the hero friends role are okay in their respective roles. Senior actors like Sivaji Raja and Naresh are decent in their supporting roles.
Off-screen talents:
Teja Marni who earlier directed Johaar directs Arjuna Phalguna. Though Teja’s idea of making a crime thriller in a rural backdrop is good, his narration lacks proper presentation and gripping screenplay.
Music by Priyadarshan Balasubramanian is good but the songs and background was not utilized properly.
Cinematography by Jagadeesh Cheekati is adequate. Editing by Viplav Nyshadam is okay as he kept the film’s runtime in limits.
Production values from Matinee Entertainments banner are apt for the film’s genre.
Positive Points:
- Artists performances
Negative Points:
No proper presentation
Lacks strong conflict point
Verdict:
In an overview, Arjuna Phalguna is a badly made crime thriller that lacks gripping screenplay, solid presentation and engaging drama. If you still want to watch the film, stay away from a theatrical experience and watch it when premiered on OTT space or aired on Television.
