Arjun Son Of Vyjayanthi is a 2025 Telugu-language action drama written and directed by Pradeep Chilukuri. The film has Nandamuri Kalyan Ram & Vijayashanthi playing the lead roles while Sohel Khan, Saiee Manjrekar, Srikanth, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Bharat Reddy, Kalyan, Avinash, Sundip Ved, Mukhtar Khan, Yug Ram & others are seen in important supporting roles. Story:
Vyjayanthi (Vijayashanthi) is a strict and upright police officer who cannot tolerate any kind of injustice, even if her family members do it. Her only dream is for her son, Arjun (Kalyan Ram), to become an honest and sincere police officer like her. However, an unexpected encounter with a mafia don sets Arjun on a different path, where he resorts to doing a few unlawful actions to protect the people who helped him, and he eventually turns into a gangster. This leads to a dramatic conflict where the mother hates her own son. The rest of the film explores Arjun’s dilemma, where he is torn between his mother’s expectations, the police pursuit, and his mission to protect the people of Vizag.
What about on-screen performances?
Nandamuri Kalyan Ram does an excellent job with his performance in the film. These kinds of films are a cakewalk for the actor. He is too good in all the action blocks and does well in the emotional scenes, too.
Veteran actress Vijayashanthi plays the hero’s mother role to perfection. She deserves a lot of credit for looking in good shape to play a stern police officer, and she fits the bill quite well. She does some real-time stunts too, which is highly appreciable, and she nails all the action scenes in her trademark style.
Saiee Manjrekar looked adorable and is decent as Chitra, Arjun’s wife, but her role is quite limited.
Bollywood star Sohel Khan is very ordinary as the main villain. His portrayal of Pathan is the weakest link due to poor characterization.
Srikanth gets a substantial role as the commissioner and performs effectively with a good twist to his character.
Babloo Prithiveeraj ably supports the hero throughout the film, while Bharat Reddy, Kalyan, Avinash, Sundip Ved, Mukhtar Khan, Yug Ram & all others are fine in their small roles.
What about off-screen talents?
The story by Pradeep Chilukuri is a regular action drama with routine emotions. The heart of the film lies in the intense, emotionally charged relationship between the mother & son, but these portions needed better writing and a better emotional point apart from wishing the mother on her birthday.
The screenplay by Srikanth Vissa & Pradeep Chilukuri follows a familiar template formula of action drama that we’ve seen in N number of films in the past. The treatment, too, feels clichéd with ordinary scenes until the climax.
The film starts off with 3 action scenes- one for each- Vijayashanthi, Kalyan Ram & Sohel Khan. It later gets on with an interesting mother-son setup and has a few engaging sequences, but quickly turns into a run-of-the-mill and template commercial film with an okayish interval block. The second half gets more predictable and gradually turns over-the-top in the second act, though the climax delivers some satisfying mass moments with a good shocking sacrificial scene that is new to Telugu cinema.
Director Pradeep Chilukuri does a fair job in commercially presenting the regular script. He shows glimpses of promise in handling mass action sequences, but he clearly needs stronger support in the writing department. His outdated narration is one of the big drawbacks of the film. He banks heavily on the climax portion, which stands out for its novelty and shock factor.
The dialogues by Srikanth Vissa are massy. A few one-liners of Kalyan Ram stand out in the film.
The songs by Ajaneesh Loknath are forgettable, as none of them impress. But his background score is impressive, complementing the mood without overshadowing it.
The camerawork by C. Ram Prasad is decent while the edit by Tammiraju needed more scissoring.
The production values by NTR Arts & Ashoka Creations are solid.
What’s Hot?
* Kalyan Ram’s Performance
* Vijayashanthi’s Performance
* Shocking Pre-Climax Twist
* Few Good Action Blocks
* Decent Background Score
* Cinematography & Production Values
What’s Not?
* Predictable Plot & Template Screenplay
* Routine Emotions & Outdated Narration
* Cliched Villain Portions
* Forgettable Songs
* Weak Characterizations
Verdict: Overall, Arjun Son Of Vyjayanthi is a routine template action drama that rests heavily on the climax. It runs on the familiar mother-son emotions with a shocking climax point and a commendable effort by Kalyan Ram & Vijayashanthi. Can give it a try if you like hardcore commercial films.
