A criminal case has been registered against Ongole YCP MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy at the Nellore district Venkatachalam police station. The Irrigation officials have filed a complaint against him based on the charges of illegal sand mining in Nellore. He was named as the A2 accused in a case.
As per reports, Srinivasulu Reddy was involved in illegal sand mining in Sarvepalli Reservoir without permission. TDP leaders have alleged that mining in the reservoir area is going beyond the permits.
With the opposition providing evidence to the sand mining, the higher officials directed the irrigation department to visit the reservoir. During their official visit, it was found that around 18,629 cubic metres of sand mining has been done, while there is only permission for 8000 cubic metres.
Surprisingly, the police officials have taken no action against the YSRCP MP even after two months. This was revealed in an RTI application filed by the TDP. The affair has caused a stir across the state as a case has been registered against the ruling party MP.
Meanwhile, TDP leader Somireddy alleged that YCP leaders had applied for gravel excavations on Srinivasulu Reddy’s name with forgery signatures without the knowledge of the latter. He alleged that MLA Kakani Govardhan Reddy is also part of this conspiracy.
