The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday quashed the notification of the State Election Commissioner on Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) elections.
The HC made the ruling based on petitions filed against the ruling YSRCP by the opposition TDP, BJP and Jana Sena Party against the SEC’s notification of April 1.
The petitioners in their plea to AP High Court insisted that they were not discussed before the date for the election was declared.
The HC, which cancelled the Parishad election notification, said that the notification of SEC did not comply with 4 weeks before the polling guidelines of the Supreme Court. The High Court has directed to issue a new notification for MPTC and ZPTC elections.
