The AP High court gave a sensational verdict. Recently, the High Court has dismissed the atrocity sections imposed on Krishnayapalem farmers.
The lawyer’s arguments were heard on behalf of the farmers in the AP HC. After hearing these arguments, the High Court dismissed the cases against 11 farmers in Krishnayapalem.
In the past, police have registered cases against 11 persons under various sections including the SC and ST Atrocities Act.
Bringing the farmers in handcuffs led to severe criticisms. SCs, farmers’ unions, and many other parties have expressed outrage over this. Of the seven arrested, five were SCs and two were BCs.
The lawyers on behalf of farmers argued before the court that the atrocities cases should be filed only when the SC, STs were attacked by other castes or communities. But in this case, police have filed atrocities against SC farmers.
