The state government has approved for setting up of ten more beaches between Rushikonda and Bhogapuram in Visakhapatnam. The State Tourism Development Corporation will develop each beach with Rs 2.50 crore.
The Visakhapatnam port management will initially develop five beaches with funds provided under corporate social responsibility. The rest will be developed in the second phase. RK Beach, Rushikonda and Yarada beaches are already popular tourist attractions in Visakhapatnam.
The area will be further developed for tourism with the establishment of new beaches along the coast as part of the six-lane road development from Visakhapatnam to Bhogapuram via Bhimunipatnam. As part of this, the tourism development agency officials said that temporary facilities will be provided on the beach under the Coastal Control Zone regulations.
These are the new beaches:
1. Sagarnagar, 2. Thimmapuram, 3. Mangamuripeta, 4, Chepaluppada, 5. INS Kalinga, 6. Erramatti, 7. Bhimunipatnam, 8, Nagayampalem, 9, Annavaram, 10. Kancherupalem.
Facilities to accommodate the newly established beaches are food courts, children’s sports parks, walkways, fitness equipment, bathrooms, drinking water facility, safe swimming zones, beach sports, watchtower, CCTV control room, primary medical care, etc.
Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao said the new beaches in Visakhapatnam would be opened as soon as possible. These will be designed to attract domestic and foreign tourists.
