The Andhra Pradesh government has gathered a lot of lands around the state, to fulfil its promise of constructing houses for the poor of the state. As a result, the government stopped at nothing, and tried to gather as many lands as possible, no matter where they are, and even drew up relevant documents related to the houses, and gave these documents to those who are eligible. This caused a lot of trouble for the government, as the government had its eyes on several assigned lands, which caused a lot of problems.
Now, the government has its eyes on assigned lands once again, in cities this time, to provide homes for middle-class families, at reasonable prices. By taking away farmers’ assigned lands, the government brought upon itself a lot of wrath from farmers, who not only openly stated their pain but also lost their livelihoods.
Keeping this in mind, it is important to note that it will be a more difficult task for the government to take hold of assigned lands in cities.
If the government is to get full rights to these assigned lands in cities, then the compensation that the govenemtn will have to give the land owners would be huge, and the government would not be in a position to do that for so many lands.
However, if the government gives these lands for development, and then gives the owners their share of the land, and allots the rest of the land for middle-class families, then it could turn out to be fine for the government.
Everything would turn out to be fine if the government chooses feasible and rational options. If the government chooses to threaten and take away the lands though, things would get very ugly.
