It is an established fact that Andhra Pradesh BJP wing has not won, but two groups, apart from the conventional core BJP supporters which is a minority comparatively. While one group is traditionally with the Telugu Desam and the other group is conventionally aligned with YCP. Notably, the pioneer of the pro-Jagan group in BJP is former state president Somu Veerraju.
But what was proven clearly in the recent election was that siding with TDP is overwhelmingly fruitful to BJP as they went from 0 seats in 2019 to substantial representation in assembly and parliament in 2024.
However, despite the clear favouring that is happening with TDP, the local BJP leadership has taken a rather unexpected decision by giving the MLC position to Somu Veerraju who is a Jagan sympathiser.
Somu Veerraju is going to file his nomination for the MLC position very soon and his candidacy for the MLC under the MLA quota is only a formality. This is a big judgement call that is taken by the BJP high command to go with Somu Veerraju for the MLC post.
