The Andhra Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary, and spokesperson, Sathyakumar, on Monday, said that the central leadership of the BJP and the NDA-led government didn’t ask the YSRCP for its support in the Presidential elections and that it was the YSRCP that came forward by itself and extended its support to the BJP.
Tihs didn’t go down well with the central leadership, and also with the YSRCP members, who took great offense and immediately retaliated. All this took place just hours before the arrival of the BJP’s presidential candidate, Draupadi Murmu, to AP, as she is scheduled to arrive in the state on Tuesday to meet the YSR Congress MLAs and seek their support for her candidature.
YSRCP MLA Perni Nani even spoke to the media regarding the topic, saying that the YSRCP only extended its support to the BJP’s presidential candidate after the BJP had sought its support. This statement by Sathyakumar didn’t sit well with the central BJP leadership either, with reports suggesting that serious consequences would follow Sathyakumar.
