Nearly 150 women were left unconscious in Visakhapatnam, due to the leakage of Ammonium Nitrate in the Brandix SEZ at Atchuthapuram today. This is not the first time that there’s been a gas leakage in the city, as less than two years ago, there was another gas leak that caused the death of several people.
The gas leak in the Brandix SEZ at Atchuthapuram even caused the residents surrounding the area to panic, as ammonia gas was released into the surrounding air. The concerned officials are said to have rushed to the factory as soon as they got to know the incident, to bring everything under control. Chief Minsiter YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is said to have directed the authorities to make sure that those who were left unconscious received the necessary treatment.
CM Jagan is also said to have directed Minister for Industries Gudivada Amarnath to visit the accident site. The officials also informed the CM later that all those who were affected were out of danger, and that the others were moved to safety. A probe has also been launched into the leakage of ammonia gas at the factory.
