Team India has recorded a historic win at the Lord’s by defeating England by 151 runs. The visitors had played better than ever and the pacers produced a high-quality show to dismiss the hosts for 120.
However, the heated discussion between Bumrah and English pacer James Anderson had shown a strong impact on the game. After facing a lot of short balls from Bumrah, the English pacer refused to accept Indian pacer’s apology.
India fielding coach R Sridhar recently opened up on the incident, saying the Anderson refusal to accept an apology from the Indian player had motivated the visitors’ to do well on the final day.
In a discussion with spinner R Ashwin on his YouTube channel, Sridhar revealed Anderson was furious with Jasprit Bumrah for changing his speed while bowling to him on Day 3.
“Bumrah is a competitive fast bowler but wouldn’t want to intentionally hurt anyone. That got the team together. Not that the team wasn’t together before. It ignited a fire in everyone. The effect of that was visible on Day 5,” Sridhar explained.
India is leading the five-match series 1-0 against England. The teams will now travel to Leeds, where they will contest in the third Test, starting from 25 August.
