It’s a well known fact that Perumalla Pranay murder case in Miryalaguda, Nalgonda district in September 2018 has created a nationwide sensation. Controversial director and producer Ramgopal Varma is currently making a film based on the case titled Murder.
In this aspect Perumalla Amrutha, a witness in the case, filed a civil suit in the Nalgonda district court on May 29 by censuring the move. The film’s narrative is based on the atrocious honour killing where Amrutha’s father K Maruthi Rao was the accused, who later committed suicide out of distress .
She told the court that the murder case was under investigation and that the release of a film with a fictional fabricated story could have an adverse effect on witnesses, hence the need to issue interim orders to detain the film is crucial. She grieved that she is already in pain and can’t take any more unfair treatment.
Amrutha stated that the director hasn’t taken any permission from the family in making the film. The trailer too depicted some outrageous scenes related to Pranay’s murder. The advocate Narasimha representing Amrutha’s family urged the court to send the notices via email in these troubled times. While RGV defended with his stance saying it just highlights the doting father and daughter relationship.
The Nalgonda court forwarded the case to SC and ST special court. Th SC ST court judge on hearing the case issued urgent notices to defendants, director Ramgopal Varma and producer Natti Karuna and adjourned the hearing of the interim petition till August 6th.
