Senior YSR Congress Party leader Ambati Rambabu has launched a sharp attack on the Congress party, accusing it of rewriting history on the legacy of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and misusing central agencies for political purposes. In a strongly worded statement, Rambabu said the country clearly remembers how Congress treated YSR and his family after his demise, and questioned the party’s sudden claims of respect for his legacy.

Rambabu stated that the cases now being cited by Congress leaders were initiated during the Congress-led regime itself. He alleged that YSR’s name was dragged into investigations driven by political calculations and that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was targeted with CBI and ED cases despite receiving overwhelming public support. According to him, central agencies were used to exert pressure and to contain a rising political force in Andhra Pradesh. He further claimed that even senior Congress leaders had earlier indicated that such cases would not have been pursued if Jagan had remained under the party’s influence, and said Congress has no moral right to lecture others after engineering cases for political convenience.

The YSRCP leader also highlighted his party’s stand on national issues, saying it has remained consistent irrespective of who was in power at the Centre. He said the party supported decisions related to national interest, including Presidential elections and key Bills in Parliament, even during Congress rule, and did not alter its stand for narrow political gains. Rambabu maintained that his party has always placed the country’s larger interest above political equations.

Raising concerns about India’s image on the global stage, Rambabu said political parties should not embarrass the nation on international platforms for domestic political battles. He said differences are natural in a democracy, but taking internal disputes to global forums weakens the country’s image and credibility. He stressed that national dignity should never be compromised for political advantage.

Rambabu also alleged that there was a political understanding between Congress and N. Chandrababu Naidu when it suited their interests, and said this had already been exposed by his party leadership earlier. He accused Congress of undermining YSR’s legacy through its actions in the past and now attempting to project itself differently for political gain. Calling on Congress leaders to introspect before making moral statements, Rambabu said the people of Andhra Pradesh are well aware of who stood by principles and who acted out of political insecurity.

The remarks have added fresh fuel to the ongoing political debate in Andhra Pradesh, with the exchange of accusations between YSRCP and Congress expected to intensify in the coming days.
