Digital streaming business giant Amazon Prime Video on Tuesday declared it’s debut into live sports in India by acquiring the Indian nation rights for Newzealand cricket (NZC) for 2025-26.
It clinched a massive multi year deal for the first time ever in sports with Newzealand cricket board. This facilitates Amazon to stream all international cricket matches that comprises both men and women in all formats of the game- ODI, T20 and Tests commencing late 2021.
The pact also covers Indian cricket team tour of New Zealand in early 2022, followed by another one, the dates for which will be revealed later. The rights for 2020-2021 season starting later this month is being broadcasted by Amazon.
Gaurav Gandhi, Director & Country General Manager, Amazon Prime Video stated their team is delighted for bagging the opportunity to introduce India’s most loved game to the streamer. He shared, he was enthralled to associate with Newzealand Cricket on this big venture and hopes prime viewers would surely be pleased.
“Over the last few years Amazon Prime Video has become the reliable spot for world class entertainment in India — be it our Amazon Original Series or the biggest blockbuster movies across languages”, Gandhi said.
David White, Chief executive of Newzealand Cricket, felt jubilant to tie up with Indian streaming platform as he believed the nation has highest viewers than anywhere in the world.
