The farmers of Amaravati had to face a lot after the YSRCP government announced its 3 capitals plan. They protested for over 800 days, legally and in all other aspects, and finally won in the end, with the Andhra Pradesh High Court’s verdict being that the AP government should continue to develop Amaravati as the sole capital of AP.
Now that they’ve got one victory, the farmers have shifted their focus to another cause. As per the initial agreement between the AP government and them, they were supposed to get plots in the capital, with all facilities, within 3 years. While the process started when the TDP government was in power, it stopped as soon as the YSRCP came to power. It’s been more than three years now, and the farmers have now sent notices to the CRDA regarding the same.
The farmers have asked for compensation as they haven’t been given the plots yet, and they are expected to go to court as well, with regards to the issue. Given that the farmers were to get these poots under the CRDA act, and given that they didn’t get their plots, the CRDA is expected to get in a lot of trouble.
