Oh! the woes of Amaravati farmers, will there ever be an end to their miseries? First their capital was stripped from them, and now their annual lease amount. And what will the government do when they ask for their money, arrest them!
The farmers of Amaravati, disappointed and frustrated that their Annual lease amount hasn’t yet been paid to them, had decided to surround the CMRDA office in Vijayawada. However, the Police Department made sure that this wouldn’t happen, by arranging security all around the office.
The Police have also arrested those farmers that came in close proximity to the CMRDA office, and are holding them at different police stations all over Vijayawada. Among those that have been arrested are Amaravati Farmers Association Convener K.Sudhakar, and members Jagan, Yugandhar, Rammohan.
AP CPM Leaders, P.Madhu, V. Srinivasa Rao and others had gathered at the Lenin Statue and spoke to the Police about the issue. They also went to several Police Stations and expressed their condolences to the farmers who got arrested. Speaking about the incident, Madhu said that it is the government’s duty to pay the lease amount to these farmers on time, and that it is totally unacceptable to get them arrested for asking what is their’s.
AP CPI Leader K. Ramakrishna also responded to the incident and demanded that all those who have been arrested be released immediately.
