Amala Paul is undoubtedly one of the talented actresses down the south. She fell in love with director AL Vijay and got married in 2014. However, their marriage didn’t last long, and the couple filed for divorce in July 2016. And in February 2017, a family court in Chennai declared that Amala and Vijay are officially divorced.
After many years, the actress has finally opened up about her divorce. During her interaction with a popular media house, she revealed the pressure she was going through during her divorce from Vijay.
“It’s a reflection to the real world in which the support system for such women is almost non-existent. When I was going through my separation, I don’t remember anyone coming to my support. They all sought to instill fear in me. They said I was only a girl,” she said.
She also added, “There I was, a successful actor, and yet, I was being told that I should be frightened by the prospect of a man not being by my side. They warned that my career would get derailed, that I would be scorned by society. Nobody expressed concern about my happiness and mental health.”
Amala Paul recently played a crucial role in the Telugu anthology film Pitta Kathalu in which she played a wife who subjected to sexual and physical abuse by her husband.
