The Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU) is expanding after the massive success of HanuMan. The next big film from this universe is MAHAKALI, produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal under RKD Studios and directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru.
Bollywood star Akshaye Khanna is making his Telugu cinema debut with this film. He plays Shukracharya, the eternal guru of the Asuras in Hindu mythology. Akshaye, who impressed audiences with his powerful role in Chhava, chose MAHAKALI for his Telugu launch because of the strong story and the depth of his character.
The makers have released the first look of Akshaye as Shukracharya. The poster shows him with a silver beard, ascetic robes, and glowing eyes, standing against a huge mountain fortress under a stormy sky. The powerful image presents him as a mystic filled with wisdom and cosmic strength.
Shukracharya is known in mythology as the master of Sanatana Vidya and the keeper of the Mrita-Sanjivani mantra, the secret power to bring back life. In MAHAKALI, he is shown as not just a spiritual guide but also a great strategist of the Asuras.
The film has a strong technical team. Music is by Smaran Sai, cinematography by Suresh Ragutu, production design by Sri Nagendra Tangala, and executive production by Venkat Kumar Jetty. Costumes are designed by Shilpa GNS.
The shoot of MAHAKALI is already more than 50% complete. The makers plan to finish production by December, while post-production work is also happening in parallel. The official release date will be announced soon.
