Only a few days ago did the Andhra Pradesh government announce the increase in the power tariff in the AP state, despite the almost lack of power in the state, due to the shortage of power. This increase in tariff is about to take a huge toll on the people of the state, as the prices have been increased tremendously. While the opposition parties continue to oppose this move of the government, the AP government has now made another announcement.
It has now announced an increase in the ticket prices of APSRTC, citing increased prices of diesel and petrol. This is also to take a huge toll on the people of the state, especially those who use the RTC to travel on a regular basis. The RTC was merged with the government after the Jagan government took charge, as this merger was one of Jagan’s promises in the lead up to the elections.
Apart from the increase in diesel and petrol prices, the government is also citing the pandemic, which took a heavy toll on public transportation. However, whatever the reason may be, the common consensus is that the Jagan government is trying to get back all of the money it’s spending on welfare schemes, by increasing the prices of everything.
