Due to the surge in Covid-19 cases across the country, almost all big films have postponed their releases and are waiting for the virus effect to fall.
Now, Adivi Sesh’s much-awaited Major has joined the list of movies to postpone its release due to the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. The biopic film was supposed to release on February 11.
But because of the rising cases in India, the makers have indefinitely put the movie on hold without a new release date.
“Owing to the aggravation of the covid situation and curfew/limitations in most parts of the country, the release of Major stands postponed. We would announce a new release date soon. Please adhere to all covid protocols and stay safe. Our nation isn’t safe, till each one of us is safe,” said the makers in an official statement.
Major is based on the life of late decorated Indian soldier Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. The film tells the tale of the war hero, who lost his life fighting terrorists during the 2008 Mumbai serial attacks.
Simultaneously shot in Telugu and Hindi, Major will also be dubbed in other south Indian languages. Sony Pictures Films India, GMB Entertainment, and A+S Movies have jointly bankrolled the film.
