Andhra Pradesh has secured another major international investment, with South Korean footwear manufacturer Hwaseung choosing the state for a new large-scale production facility. The company, which manufactures footwear for global brands including Adidas, will establish a non-leather footwear manufacturing plant in Kuppam, marking a significant boost for the state’s industrial growth.
The project will be set up at Pogurupalle village in Chittoor district across 100 acres with an estimated investment of ₹898 crore. The facility will be developed in three phases, and N. Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the project.
The investment is expected to transform Kuppam into a major footwear manufacturing hub while creating substantial employment opportunities in the region. According to the company, the project will generate direct employment for 17,645 people once fully operational.
The project was initially planned for Tamil Nadu with a proposed investment of around ₹1,720 crore. However, the Andhra Pradesh government successfully attracted the company within just three months by offering a competitive investment package and industry-friendly policies.
As part of the incentives, the state government has announced a 30 percent investment subsidy, electricity tariff reimbursement for ten years, a 100 percent exemption on stamp duty and registration charges, and additional decarbonization support to promote green manufacturing.
Alongside the footwear project, the Chief Minister will begin a three-day visit to Kuppam, where development projects worth ₹7,939 crore are scheduled to be launched. These include India’s first battery anode material manufacturing facility, a Pioneer Clean Amps aircraft manufacturing unit, three major power substations worth ₹952 crore, an ABS Proteins chicken processing unit, and new MSME parks.
With these investments, Andhra Pradesh aims to strengthen its position as a preferred destination for global manufacturing while creating thousands of new jobs and accelerating industrial development in the state.
