The Chief Minister of Telangana, KCR, had announced a few weeks ago, that he would be implementing the Dalit Bandhu scheme for all the Dalits in the state, and started it off with the Huzurabad constituency, by releasing Rs. 1500 Crores for the Dalits of the constituency. Now, an additional Rs. 500 Crores have been released for the Dalits of the place.
Through this scheme, KCR will be depositing Rs. 10 Lakhs into the accounts of all those who are eligible for the scheme. He said that he intends to better the lives of the community through the scheme. A total of Rs. 2,000 Crores have now been released for the implementation of the Dalit Bandhu scheme in the Huzurabad constituency, which will be distributed to 21,000 Dalit families. The scheme is also being implemented in the Vasalamarri village, which has been adopted by KCR, and 71 Dalit families will benefit from the scheme in the village.
While the Dalit population is 75 lakh in the state, KCR said that the scheme would be implemented for 17 Lakh families, at the cost of Rs. 1.7 Lakh crores. Through the scheme, KCR is trying to win the votes of the Dalit community in the state.
