The Centre has taken a crucial decision today in the wake of the skyrocketing coronavirus cases in several states of the country.
People above 45 years of age will be vaccinated against the Covid-19 from April 1, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar announced today.
“All eligible people should get registered as it is a shield against COVID-19. We appeal to all above 45+ should get vaccinated,” Javadekar said while addressing a press conference.
Those who opt to get the vaccine in private clinics will have to pay for their doses. Private hospitals may charge Rs 250 per person per dose. The vaccination is free from government centres. The minister said that there was no scarcity of vaccines and more were arriving.
Currently, citizens above 60 and people who are 45 with other illnesses are allowed to get the vaccination.
