Noted director Indraganti Mohanakrishna’s film, Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meku Chappali starring Sudheer Babu and Kirthi Shetty as the lead pair has hit the screens today. Let’s analyse it.
Story:
A commerical director Naveen( Sudheer Babu) crosses paths with an eye doctor named Alekhya( Krithi Shetty) and keep on asking her to act in his movie. Having hatred towards films, what convinces Alekhya to act in Naveen’s film? Will there be any strong reason behind Alekhya accepting to act in the movie? What kind of hurdles will Naveen face in the filmmaking process, forms the crucial crux.
On-screen performances:
Heroine Krithi Shetty impresses big-time with her performance. Especially, her acting in emotional scenes is too good and brings depth to the proceedings.
Sudheer Babu is okay in his role as a star director. Sudheer’s acting registers in a emotional scene in the second half. The chemistry between the lead pair is showcased in a decent manner.
Vennela Kishore gets good screen time in the first half of the film. His comic timing and funny dialogues evoke good fun in the first half proceedings. Srikanth Iyengar did his father role quite effectively. Other artists are okay in their given roles.
Off screen talents:
The music composed by Vivek Sagar is good. While all his songs are passable on screen, the background score for a few emotional scenes creates an impact.
The cinematography work by PG Vinda is nice as he tried to bring a fresh feel to the premise with his framing and lighting setup.
The editing work by Marthand K Venkatesh is okay. Production design is good as so is the case with the production values.
Coming to the direction skills, director Indraganti Mohanakrishna’s story is simple but he tried to presented a couple of key scenes on an impressive note. His strength in writing is visible in a few emotional episodes but struggled to present the entire film on a same tempo.
Positive Points:
- Strong writing
- Background score
Negative Points:
- Lacks soul
- Not so appealing second half
Verdict:
In an overview, Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meku Chappali is a light-hearted drama that revolves around a filmmaker and an eye doctor. Though director Indraganti Mohanakrishna presented a few episodes in both the halves in an engaging manner, overall the film fails to create an impact.
