After delivering cult hits like Little Hearts and Raju Weds Rambayi, producers Bunny Vaas and Vamsi Nandipati are gearing up to release a horror thriller titled Eesha. Produced under the banners of Vamsi Nandipati Entertainments and Bunny Vaas Works, the film is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 25. Directed by Srinivas Manne, Eesha stars Akhil Raj and Trigun in lead roles, with Hebah Patel as the female lead. The film is presented by veteran producer K. L. Damodar Prasad and produced by Hem Venkateswara Rao under the HVR Productions banner.
Speaking to the media, Akhil Raj shared that the release of Eesha came together unexpectedly, though he had signed the project even before the success of Raju Weds Rambayi. He revealed that he was selected after an audition and credited director Srinivas Manne for choosing him for the role, adding that he is confident audiences will connect with the film.
Recalling his first reaction to the script, Akhil Raj said he was instantly shocked and intrigued by the story. According to him, Eesha offers a fresh and immersive experience for horror-thriller fans, driven by strong twists, striking visuals, and powerful sound design. He described the film as one that is truly meant to be experienced in theatres, with lighting patterns and audio playing a crucial role in heightening the fear factor.
The actor expressed confidence that Bunny Vaas and Vamsi Nandipati, who tasted success with their earlier films, would repeat the same with Eesha. He stated that the film has the potential to genuinely scare audiences and leave a lasting impact.
Talking about his role, Akhil Raj said he plays Vinay, one of four childhood friends, and called the experience of working alongside Trigun, Hebah Patel, Siri Hanmanthu, and Mime Madhu highly rewarding. He added that the film helped him grow as an actor, especially under the guidance of director Srinivas Manne.
Akhil Raj also spoke about his commitment to the project, stating that he takes complete ownership of every film he does. He mentioned that he is actively involved in promotions and firmly believes that strong content always finds its way to success.
Sharing a shooting anecdote, the actor recalled falling sick with a month-long fever after being bitten by an insect during the Araku schedule, though he said the shoot was otherwise smooth.
Highlighting the background score, Akhil Raj said the sound design of Eesha is one of its biggest strengths and warned that it may be too intense for the faint-hearted. Explaining why he chose a horror film, he said he wanted to break away from similar roles and showcase his versatility. He believes the character of Vinay will help him earn wider recognition.
Reflecting on the impact of Raju Weds Rambayi, Akhil Raj said the film changed his life completely and gave him both identity and recognition in the industry. On a lighter note, he admitted that while he was scared of ghosts during his childhood, that fear faded as he grew older.
Praising director Srinivas Manne, Akhil Raj said the filmmaker has strong clarity and conviction, particularly when it comes to thrill-driven storytelling, and expressed confidence in the film’s success. He also revealed that four to five new projects are currently under discussion, including a film featuring Tharun Bhascker and Anupama, directed by Bhadri, which will be his next after Raju Weds Rambayi.
