Hyderabad: It’s known that several areas in the city and colonies have been inundated with water. GHMC is taking all measures for speedy evacuation of individuals via speed boats to less effected areas. Flood effected area residents began fuming over GHMC officials and ministers for providing less number of boats.
When flood waters increased in Hyderabad following unending downpours, Nadeem Colony in Toli Chowki was one of the main spots to report elevated levels of water. Individuals on the ground floor ascended to the first and second floor to escape from the rising degrees of water.
Naseer Giyas, a news reporter and a researcher who has been aiding the rescue efforts raised concerns about the ill fated situation publicly. He took to Twitter to address at the sorry state of affairs where only six boats were being used in rescue operations since October 13.
Director of Enforcement, Vigilance and Disaster Management reported, in the last six days more than 30000 people have been saved by the Disaster Response Force teams in water logged areas in GHMC limits.
KT Rama Rao announced, the GHMC has 18 boats in total. “The Chief Secretary has spoken to the Chief Secretaries of the neighbouring states. Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh have agreed to send around 15 boats each. We will soon have 50 boats”, he added.
