Shikhar Dhawan’s maiden IPL century helped Delhi Capitals to win against CSK by five wickets. This was a last-over thriller in which Delhi chased the target in 19.5 overs. Apart from Dhawan (101*), it was Iyer (23), Stoinis (24) and Axar Patel (21*) who did well for Delhi. For Chennai, du Plessis (58), Rayudu (45*) and Watson (36) have done well to post a total of 179.

MS Dhoni won the toss and he elected to bat first. But Chennai got a disastrous start as Sam Curran got caught right on the third ball of the game. But Shane Watson and du Plessis built the innings and made a partnership of 87 runs. When they were getting dangerous, Nortje clean bowled Waston. In the 15th over, du Plessis got out, after scoring a half-century. Later, Rayudu played a sensible inning. Even though Dhoni got out early, Rayudu got good support from Jadeja. Both of them helped CSK to score 179/4 in 20 overs.

Delhi also got a disastrous start while chasing a total of 180. Opener Prithvi Shaw got out right on the second ball of the innings. Once again, Rahane failed to perform this season. Then, Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer stayed in the crease and built the innings. In the process, Dhawan scored his third consecutive half-century in this edition. In the 12th over, Bravo dismissed Iyer. Marcus Stoinis got out in the 16th over, while trying for a big shot. Even Alex Carey got out in the 19th over while trying for a big shot. Dhawan was the only one left who can do the job for Delhi. The lone warrior finally scored his maiden century in IPL. They needed 17 runs off the last over. All thanks to Axar Patel’s three big sixes, Delhi scored 185/5 in 19.5 overs.

Scorecard:

Chennai Super Kings: 179/4 (du Plessis 58, A Rayudu 45*, A Nortje 2/44)
