After the Election Commission pulling up the care-taker Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for conducting review meetings, which it felt violation of model code, now it’s the turn of in-charge Chief Secretary, L V Subramaniam, to advise all IAS and IPS officers to retrain from attending any meetings hereafter.

It is learnt that he had also directed the Director-General of Police R P Thakur, not to attend any law and order review meeting called by Naidu.

“None can attend any meeting called by the Chief Minister without prior permission from me,” he apparently made it clear in his note sent to all and sundry in the administration.

It may be recalled that the Chief Minister held a review meeting on Polavaram and the construction of new capital Amaravati city, which were rocked by large-scale of corruption.  Opposition YSRCP allege large-scale corruption in both these projects and Naidu’s decision to walkout NDA was not because of the Centre’s denial or dishonoring of promises ‘special status category’, but insistence on submitting accounts of these projects, for which the Centre claims to have released funds.

“The so called review meeting was only to direct his coverts within the government to destroy whatever little evidence left out to avoid get caught by any future government’s possible probe,” said senior YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu.  He said once his government comes to power, they will order probe into these two major projects, where large-scale corruption took place.

Naidu was also supposed to hold a review meeting with the police officials on law and order problem, but the EC reigned in.

“Thank God, the EC has acted upon our complaint.  Or else, Naidu, who realized defeat is staring at him, wanted to wipe out all evidences over his misdeeds through this last minute ‘review meetings.,’ he said added; “Yes I accuse with all information at my command that Naidu is scared of his political future, if he loses this poll, which he, anyway.”

Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary’s directive says, no IAS or IPS officer either go and discuss with Naidu on any official matters even if he summons them.  “If anything  the Chief Minister will inform the concerned department secretary and in turn the secretaries should bring it to my notice.  Depending on the issue, I will take a decision.”

He quoted the Rule 19.6.1 of the model code of conduct, which clearly says “During the period of operation f the Model Code, no video conferencing shall take place between the Chief Minister/ministers/political functionaries/ of the Union and state governments with the government officials.”
