P Chidambaram who has been found guilty in INX Media money laundering case, has been granted bail on Wednesday. After granting bail, Supreme Court instructed the former finance minister not to resort to the acts like tampering the evidence, influencing the witnesses etc.
The apex court also restricted him from giving any interviews to the media or making any public statements about the case. It also asked him not to travel out of the country, without prior permission of the court.
Chidambaram was arrested on August 21st and has been in custody since then. The Central Bureau of Investigation has been investigating him in a case relating to alleged irregularities in Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance granted to the INX Media group for receiving overseas funds of Rs. 305 crore in 2007, during his tenure as the finance minister.
