Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati (Side B) is the Telugu version of the Kannada-language romantic drama which is titled Sapta Sagaradaache Ello (Side B). The film is written and directed by Hemanth M Rao. The film has Rakshit Shetty, Rukmini Vasanth & Chaithra J. Achar in the lead roles while Avinash, Sharath Lohitashwa, Achyutha Kumar, Pavitra Lokesh, Ramesh Indira, Gopal Krishna Deshpande & others are seen in important supporting roles. The music is composed by Charan Raj and the film is produced by Rakshit Shetty under Paramvah Studios banners. The Telugu version is distributed by People Media Factory banner.

Story:

Manu (Rakshit Shetty) gets released from jail after 10 years and starts to build his life again. He falls in love again with a sex worker, Surabhi (Chaithra J. Achar), and marries her. However, the memories of Priya (Rukmini Vasanth) haunt him when he is forced to enter her life while adjusting to a new life with Surabhi. Apart from this he also wants to take revenge on the people who spoiled his life. How he copes with all these things needs to be seen in film.

What about on-screen performances?

Rakshit Shetty starts off from where he left in the first part and gives out a compelling performance as Manu. He maintains his vulnerable side neatly and leaves a lasting impact with his varied range of emotions.

Rukmini Vasanth once again succeeds in delivering a realistic performance, but this time as a normal wife who is not so happy with her married life. She neatly portrays the pain, grief, and helplessness of her character Priya.

Chaitra J Achar is the new addition to the story in this installment and it is the best part. She is brilliant with her performance and excels in her role as a sex worker named Surabhi. She has a very good screen presence and she is definitely someone to watch out for in the future. Gopal Krishna Deshpande who plays the friend of Manu provides a few laughs with his funny lines here and there. Avinash, Sharath Lohitashwa, Achyutha Kumar, Pavitra Lokesh, Ramesh Indira & all others are good in their supporting roles.

What about off-screen talents?

The story by Hemanth M Rao & Gundu Shetty is decent. The first installment portrays the love between Manu & Priya and the heartbreak when Manu was sent to jail, the second part unfolds their emotions a decade later, following Priya’s marriage and Manu’s release from jail. The first part had a very simple plot with a good conflict point but here, the drama is engaging and the narrative is high on emotions.

The screenplay by Hemanth M Rao in this part is well written. It starts from where the first part ended and the desperation of the hero for his loved one and his relationship with another woman who is a sex worker is convincingly portrayed on screen. Though the slow pace hinders the screenplay, the poetic touch, the feel-good factor, and the minute details are very well handled.

However, the film mostly struggles due to the sow speed that is particularly evident in the latter half and this works against the cause. The film mostly falls prey due to the fact that it unfolds at its own pace, which doesn’t cater to all sections of the viewers. The Telugu dialogues are impactful and contribute well to the emotional quotient of the film.

The cinematography by Advaitha Gurumurthy is impressive and all his frames look artistic. He provides the right mood to the film through his framing.

Music Director Charan Raj enhances the narrative with soulful music and a neat background score. The songs in Telugu are fine and are situationally apt. The edit by Sunil Bharadwaj is fine but it also could have been a little better in cutting off the lags in the film, especially towards the climax portions.

The production values by Paramvah Studios are first-rate.

What’s Hot?

* Rakshit Shetty’s Performance
* Rukmini Vasanth’s Performance
* Chaithra J. Achar’s Performance
* Feel Good Factor & Engaging Drama
* Good Sound Design & Background Score
* Cinematography & Production Values

What’s Not?

* Slow Paced Narration
* Dragged Out Climax Portions
* Repetitive Scenes
* Few Half Baked Sub Plots
* Lack of emotional connect in certain scenes

Verdict: Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati (Side B) is a heartwarming love story with a poetic touch that gives a fulfilling impact when seen as a whole story. However, there is a fair bit of lag in either halves and the narrative doesn’t necessarily cater to all sections of the audience. Watch the first part for a better understanding of Side-B.
