Nandamuri Balakrishna has worked with Anil Ravipudi for Bhagavanth Kesari which is a fairly peculiar combination. The film is billed to be an actioner and it has Sree Leela and Kajal in the other lead roles. Let us see what it has to offer
Story:
Bhagavanth Kesari is a veteran from Adilabad district with idealistic qualities. He becomes Guardian of a girl child (Vijji) who happens to be the daughter of a jailer where Bhagavanth is a prisoner. Sangvi is a business man and son of a politician, who wants to be no.1 in the country who has nexus with state and national political leaders. Vijji gets unknowingly pulled into an incident that happens between Sanghvi and Deputy CM. How Kesari rescues Vijji? what is Kesari’s flashback? And how Kesari talks Vijji to be a strong empowered girl forms the rest of the story
What about on-screen performances?
Nandamuri Balakrishna as Bhagavanth Kesari plays his age in the film. He is seen in the role of a veteran and he plays Sree Leela’s Gaurdian. His portrayal of a hard-going Gaurdian who wants to see his daughter prosper/strong is good. The looks have been designed well to suit his age.
Sree Leela puts on a fine performance and she delivers whatever is expected of her. She does the dance moves in her usual best standard. Kajal gets a brief role and she is alright. Arjun Rampaul makes his Telugu debut with this film and he does alright but his characterization by the director is at fault (an age old routine villain formula, which offers nothing new to the audience from antagonist perspective) . Casting Muralidhar Goud in one of the important roles do not go/gel well with the seriousness of the proceedings either, given his funny image in the recent movies like DJ Tillu and MAD.
What about the off-screen talents?
Anil Ravipudi picks a wafer thin script with mass elements to cater to Balakrishna’s huge fan base and also girl empowerment concept to cater to general audience, but he failed on both fronts. The screen play format is irregular and at times has has induced some scenes which are absolutely not needed for the proceedings. One such example is the cringe worthy school lecture in the 2nd half. He gives the senior hero a good makeover but was not able to handle the mass star in direction department.
Thaman’s background score is is not on par compared to his recent movies. At times, it is very loud and even the songs are weak. Editing by Tammiraju should have been crispy as there are lot of unnecessary boring scenes that could have been trimmed.
Cinematography by Harish and Ram prasad are ok, Visual effects are cheap and production values by Sahu Garapati/Harish Peddi is alright.

Verdict:
On the whole, Bhagavanth Kesari is a routine template mass movie that does not entertain neither his fans nor regular movie goers. It has nothing to offer either from Story or entertainment perspective. Although, Balakrishna has done justice to his role – wafer thin story line, age old treatment, minimal comedy, boring scenes, over the top fights, subpar songs/bgm pulled the movie down to its knees.

3:05 PM EST – Bagavanth Kesari( BalaKrishna) is introduced as a priosner. He acts as gaurdian to Sreeleela who is daughter of jailer ( Sarath kumar). Uyyala song could have been better.
3:25 PM EST: Lot of characters are introduced in a short span. Ganapayya song comes out at an odd place.
4:15 PM : Interval Report :First half of Bagavanth Kesari has nothing new to offer. No good story line, age old villanism, lack of good balakrishna powerful dailogues, below avg songs and loud bgm at times makes it a subpar 1st half ..lets see if 2nd half has anything to offer
Final Report: Bhagavth Kesari 2nd half is boring with over the top fights, some cringe worthy scenes.. Over all the movie is a regular routine mass fare that neither satisfies regular audience nor entertains his fans. Watch this space for full movie review.
