Mr. King is a Telugu-language romantic drama film written and directed by Sasiidhar Chavali. The film has Sharan Kumar, Yashvika Nishkala & Urvi Singh playing lead roles while Tanikella Bharani, Murali Sharma, Vennela Kishore, Sunil, S.S Kanchi, Mirchi Kiran & others are seen in important supporting roles. The music is composed by Mani Sharma and the film is produced by B.N.Rao under Hanvika Creations.
Story:
Shiva (Sharan Kumar) is a radio jockey who is working on his thesis on airplane mechanisms named Vaayu. Shiva meets two girls- Uma Devi (Yashvika Nishkala) and Vennela (Urvi Singh) who are sisters in the same family. Shiva falls in love with Uma Devi but he suddenly gets engaged to Vennela due to a plan by Uma Devi’s father Seetharama Raju (Murali Sharma). What is the plan? Who will Shiva get married to? What happens later needs to be seen in the film.
What about on-screen performances?
Debut actor Sharan Kumar who comes from Mahesh Babu’s family doesn’t live up to the expectations in the lead role of Shiva. His immaturity in acting is clearly visible on screen and he needs to improve a lot on his expressions, body language, and dialogue delivery.
Yashvika Nishkala looks cute on screen and does well as Uma Devi while Urvi Singh does a decent job as Vennela. Though both these girls look good in most parts, even they need to work a bit more on their overall acting abilities.
Murali Sharma as usual does an excellent job in his important role as the heroine’s father. But his dubbing is a major drawback.
Vennela Kishore raises a few laughs here and there in the first half.
Sunil is okay in his role as the driver and does well in the last song.
Tanikella Bharani, S.S Kanchi, Mirchi Kiran & others are fine in their respective limited roles.
What about off-screen talents?
The story by Sasiidhar Chavali has nothing fresh to offer in terms of the plot. It is a regular triangle love story with predictable twists and a few cliched family drama scenes. His screenplay too is unengaging and quite boring in most of the parts. The dialogues too are very ordinary.
Director Sasiidhar Chavali’s work in the film is fine. His presentation is impressive. He gets all the basics right but the only thing is that his narrative is very boring and he could not extract the best performances from his lead actors.
The songs by Mani Sharma are refreshing. ‘Neneragani Daaredho’ song is an instant hit with some very well-written lyrics by Kadali Satyanarayana. ‘Raa Raa Naa Mama’ song has good instrumentation and is good to hear. The background score too is neat.
The camera work by Tanvir Anzum is first-rate. He captures all the scenes in good light.
The edit by Sasiidhar Chavali is not up to the mark as almost about 20 minutes in the film could have been easily trimmed.
The production values by Hanvika Creations are grand.

Verdict: Though the film is well made with good production values and has good songs, Mr.King is bogged down mainly due to the performances from the lead actors, mainly the hero, and also the lack of freshness in the script.
