Ravi Teja’s Dhamaka released in theaters today. It carried a good buzz prior to its release thanks to a decent trailer and good songs. Let’s see what the film has to offer.

Story: The story starts with Sachin Khedekar, a business tycoon, ensembling the new CEO of his business empire. Then there’s Swamy – a middle-class guy (Ravi Teja), and also another posh-look Ravi Teja(dual role). What is the story behind the dual track?

What about on screen performances?

Ravi Teja is at his energetic best in the film. He looks sharp in both roles and carries them very well. He shoulders the otherwise routine film. Sree Leela looks good in whatever limited role she has. She shines bright in her forte of massy songs.

Sachin Khedekar, Rao Ramesh, Jayaram, and other veteran actors give good padding. The film has a good star cast as we see many familiar faces.

What about off-screen talents?

The writer Prasanna Kumar Bezawada offers nothing new in terms of story and premise. The film has a routine touch right from the word go. But the screenplay is pacy at times and there’s the much desired energetic Ravi Teja who shoulders the film with his presence. So, despite the routine touch, the film makes for a passable watch.

Bheems’s background score and songs are of good quality. The Jinthaak, and the conductor song in the second half are presented well. The editing is okayish and the production values are good. The frames look rich, thanks to good work from the man behind the lens Karthik Ghattamaneni.

There are a few illogical scenes here and there. Especially pertaining to the dual role track. The climax is weak. But there’s enough entertainment and a handful of comedy scenes to make it a bit of a compelling watch. Moreover, logics often go for a toss in commercial films so there isn’t too much to complain about Dhamaka on that front.

What’s good?

  • Ravi Teja mark presence
  • Well-presented songs

What’s Bad?

  • Routine treatment
  • Few illogical scenes
  • Needed a better climax

Verdict: Dhamaka is a typical commercial entertainer with a routine touch. But there’s just about enough entertainment and mass scenes to keep it going. The film makes for a passable watch in the end.
