The results for the general elections of two states – Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh – have been announced today. While the Bharatiya Janatha Party created history by winning the elections for a record seventh straight term, the opposition Congress Party managed to register a massive win in Himachal Pradesh.
The BJP clinched the huge victory by winning or leading in 157 of the 182 seats in Gujarat with a vote share of nearly 53 per cent. On the other side, the Congress has registered a solid win by securing 39 seats out of 68 sets, limiting the BJP to 26.
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is led by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has failed to show its mark in both states as it was restricted to only 5 seats in Gujarat and opened no account in Himachal Pradesh.
