Vishnu Vishal gained a good name for himself as a competent actor and producer, with films like Ratsasan and FIR. He even gained a good following for himself in the Telugu states through these films and has now come up with a new film, Matti Kusthi, for which Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja is the co-producer. The film was called a thorough entertainer, and let us now see how it turned out to be.

Story:

Veera is a happy-go-lucky guy who has no goals for himself, apart from wanting a girl with long hair as his wife. He then gets married to Keerthi, who is not only a tomboy but also a competent wrestler. This puts Veera in a tricky position and what he does about it forms the rest of the story.

On-Screen Performances:

Vishnu is good in his role, but it’s not a highly challenging or new role for him. The actor has been seen in such kind of a role before.

Aishwarya Lekshmi steals the show with her performance. She is excellent in drama and the wrestling scenes that she’s featured in. Every time she comes on the screen, she commands your attention.

The rest of the supporting cast is good enough in their roles.

Off-Screen Talents:

Director Chella Ayyavu’s script does not have a brand new concept, as it has already been seen several times on the big screen previously. The only new thing about the script is the setup, where the wife is a wrestler, and is physically superior to her husband. While there are entertaining bits here and there throughout the film, the film doesn’t particularly offer anything new to the audience. His screenplay is also entirely predictable and boring.

The background score is alright, and the songs are just okay. They don’t make any lasting impact on the audience. The cinematography is good enough.

The production design is good, and the editing could have been a lot better.

Plus Points:

  • Aishwarya Lekshmi performance
  • Vishnu Vishal Screen presence

Minus Points:

  • Screenplay
  • Weak concept
  • Predictable setup

Verdict: On the whole, Matti Kushti is not a film that really makes any sort of impact on the audience. It doesn’t have enough entertainment or a gripping concept, and is completely skippable.
