The Telugu Desam Party government, during its tenure from 2014 to 2019, with Chandrababu Naidu as the Chief Minister, announced free accommodation for all government employees, based in Amaravati. These employees work for the administration or the legislative, or any other part of the government.
The YSRCP government, ever since it came to power, has been trying to end this free accommodation policy for these government employees, but hasn’t been able to do so because of the various protests staged by the employees’ union. However, the government now seems to have decided to put an end to this and announced officially that all employees would now have to pay for their accommodation, as the government is withdrawing the free accommodation policy.
On the other hand, this is not the first policy that the TDP government introduced, which the YSRCP government is withdrawing. The YSRCP government has actively tried to withdraw almost every decision taken by the TDP government, including the decision of making Amaravati the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
