It is known that the homes of Andhra Pradesh Minister Pinipe Viswarup and MLA P Satish were set on fire by locals during the protests in Amalapuram town over the renaming of Konaseema district as Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar Konaseema.
Now, BJP Rajya Sabha member GVL Narasimha Rao condemned the violence in Konaseema on Tuesday. He challenged the ruling party weather Ambedkar’s name would be given to their prestagious Navaratnalu scheme.
GVL along with BJP national secretary Satya Kumar spoke to the media at the party’s state office and claimed that none of the BJP leaders took part in the Konaseema agitation and opined that the government has dragged Ambedkar’s name into political controversy.
GVL said Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy should apologize to the people of the country and the state. “When asked to change the name of Jinnah Towers, our leaders were arrested; if the anti-Hindu policies do not go away, we will launch a statewide movement,” GVL warned.
BJP national secretary Satya Kumar questioned whether the YSRCP government wants to limit Ambedkar to a single district.
