Hero Vishal’s new film, Saamanyudu has hit the screens today. Let’s check how it is.
Story:
The film prominently explores the struggles of middle-class common people. After his sister’s mysterious death, a cop to be a common man named Porus(Vishal) starts searching for the actual truth behind his sister death. In the process, he crosses paths with a cruel businessman named Neelakantam. How is Neelakantam interlinked with Porus’ sister’s death? Forms the crucial crux of the film.
On-screen performances:
Visual is okay with his usual acting. While his performance in emotional scenes is good, the action stunts performed by Vishal bring realistic texture to the film. A couple of action sequences in the second half of the film has been designed nicely.
Heroine Dimple Hayathi has a decent screen presence but her character is not designed in a proper manner. Comedian Yogi Babu evokes decent fun in the first half of the film in the hero side-kick role.
Other artists such as Tulasi as hero’s mother did decent job. Sirivennela Seethaarama Saastri’s son Raja is okay in his negative shaded character. The actor who played Neelakantam role did decent job.
Off-screen talents:
Thu.Pa.Saravanan is the director for Saamanyudu. Though his intention behind showcasing the struggles of common people is good, Saravanam failed completely in narrating the film on an engaging note. Instead of following the regular template treatment, if he would have focused on the presentation part the result would have been somewhat better.
While music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is laud, cinematography work by Kavin Raj is apt for the film’s genre.
Editing by Srikanth fails to register. Production values by Vishal’s own production house for this limited-budget movie are okay.
Positive Points:
- Vishal
- A couple of action episodes in second half
Negative Points:
- Predictable plotline
- Flat screenplay
Verdict: In an overview, Saamanyudu is a regular action drama that lacks proper presentation and engaging screenplay. Though Vishal’s acting is decent, the plain proceedings makes the film a disappointing watch.
