New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel has joined the “Perfect 10” Club after he picked 10 wickets in an innings against Team India in the ongoing second Test at Mumbai.
He dominated all the Indian batsmen in the first innings of the second Test and bagged a rare record in Test cricket history. Ajaz Patel, who bowled 47 overs in the match, gave 119 runs and took 10 wickets. Earlier, Jim Laker and Anil Kumble achieved this feat.
In 1956, England bowler Jim Laker had claimed all ten wickets against Australia, while in 1999, Indian spinner Anil Kumble took 10 wickets against Pakistan.
Former India captain and coach, Anil Kumble welcomed Ajaz Patel to an elite club of players to take 10 wickets. “Welcome to the club #AjazPatel #Perfect10 Well bowled! A special effort to achieve it on Day1 & 2 of a test match. #INDvzNZ,” Kumble tweeted.
India were all out for 325 runs in the first innings with Mayank Agarwal ending as the top scorer with 150 runs. Meanwhile, New Zealand batsmen surrendered to Indian bowlers as they scored 61 for the loss of 8 wickets, by the time this article is published.
