Konda Polam, starring Vaishnav Tej and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles is touted to be a rustic action drama. Here’s our review of the film.
Story:
Ravi (Vaishnav Tej) is a typical village lad who hails from a shepherd backdrop. He is in search of a job in the city. After several failed attempts, Ravi goes back to his village and continues the Konda Polam tradition through which, he, along with his family wander the hills in search of new grazing grounds for their sheep. What are the challenges they face in the process?
What about on-screen performances?
Vaishnav fits the role very well. The way he emotes through his eyes is really impressive. He looks good in both rugged, and civilized attire. Rakul Preet Singh bags an author-backed role and she does a fine job. Sai Chand as the protagonist’s father delivers a natural performance. The rest of the supporting cast does a fairly decent job as well.
What about off-screen talents?
Krish is a versatile filmmaker and he treads a new path with Konda Polam. He has tried his hand at rustic action drama. There are glimpses of his brilliance spread sparingly through the course of either halves but they are largely overshadowed by the fundamentally flawed screenplay. The monotonous narrative and the inorganic romance between the lead pair play spoilsport. The basic storyline is exciting enough but it needed a crisp screenplay to make for a compelling watch.
MM Keeravani’s background score is of top tier quality. He does his best to breathe life into the proceedings with his soundtrack. The cinematography is impeccable as well. The rustic visuals are captured brilliantly. Editing could have been better as the majority of the proceedings in the latter half are slow-paced and could have been trimmed off.

Verdict: Konda Polam is essentially a tale of shepherds who go through numerous hardships to make a living. The film has a unique plotline but the narrative is tad bland. There are a fair few gripping sequences in both the halves, but the narration is a bit uneven. It makes for a passable watch.
