Twin murders occurred in the Aravidu village in the Yellanur zone of the Ananthapur district. Two men were killed by rivals while they are traveling on a bike.
Relatives and family members of the deceased attacked the houses of rivals Nagesh and Ramesh. Tensions escalated in the Aravidu village. Police formed a picket in the village.
Opponents killed Rajagopal and Narayanappa between Aravidu and Vetapuram villages. Disputes arose between the two communities of the village over the temple lands. Locals say that due to this, the opponents killed Rajagopal.
The two victims were also followers of Tadipatri MLA Kethireddy Peddareddy. Police led by Tadipatri DSP Chaitanya have set up security in the village in the wake of the incidents that took place after the twin murders.
