In another grim record, India has reported 4,205 new deaths because of deadly Coronavirus in the last 24 hours. This is the first time that the country is seeing these many deaths in a single day, ever since the pandemic outbreak in India.
The previous highest was 4,187 reported on Friday. With the addition of fresh casualties, the death count increased to 2,54,197.
The South Asian country has also reported 3,48,421 new infections, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 2,33,40,938. While the recoveries have surged to 1,93,82,642, the active cases in India stand at 37,04,099.
As per the reports of the Indian Council of Medical Research, “30,75,83,991 samples tested up to 11th May 2021, for Covid-19. Of these, 19,83,804 samples were tested yesterday.” Meanwhile, the total vaccination count in India is 17,52,35,991.
