Following the HC’s order, the State government on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court, challenging the High Court’s order to impose lockdowns in its five worst-affected cities. With this, the SC granted an interim stay on the High Court’s order.
However, the Yogi Adityanath government has imposed a weekend lockdown in the state to deal with skyrocketing Covid-19 cases. Besides, the government has also directed that night curfew will remain in all the 75 districts from 8 PM to 7 AM daily.
