Raithu Bandhu, is a popular scheme of Telangana government, to meet the needs of farmers across the state. Through the scheme, the farmers will be able to get the financial assistance of Rs. 5000 per acre, from the government for two crops in a year.
The scheme was immensely appreciated by the Central government and in fact, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government took inspiration from it and introduced ‘PM Kisan’, assuring to provide Rs. 2000 per acre as financial assistance and a total of Rs.6000 in a year to the farmers.
Even several other states across the country imitated the scheme, but couldn’t give a bigger financial assistance as TRS government. In that way, KCR has remained as an iconic leader of the farmers.
But it seems, the things are taking a different turn now. Through “Raithu Bandhu” scheme, farmers who have less than 5 acres of land, already received the financial assistance as promised, but those with more than 5 acres are awaiting for the funds release.
Adding to it, the delay is awakening new anticipations. Most of the farmers are of the opinion that the state government may revoke the promise and confine ‘Raithu Bandhu’ only to the farmers, who have less than five acres of land.

If it happens, then the TRS government may have to face severe criticism from the farmers as it faced in the Nizamabad constituency in Lok Sabha elections, where CM’s daughter Kavitha itself losing the election to BJP candidate Aravind.
