South Superstar Rajinikanth will be honoured with this year’s Dadasaheb Phalke award, India’s highest film honour, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said.
“Happy to announce Dadasaheb Phalke award for 2020 to one of the greatest actors in the history of Indian cinema Rajnikant ji. His contribution as actor, producer and screenwriter has been iconic,” Javadekar tweeted.
Apparently, the Superstar is the 12 actor from South India to receive this award. The veteran actor started his acting career with the Tamil movie Apoorva Raagangal, released in the year 1975. He completed his film journey over 45 years in Kollywood. He was last seen in AR Murugadoss’s Darbar.
Rajinikanth will be next seen in rural drama film titled Annaatthe. The film is directed by Siva and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner Sun Pictures.
