After a careful review of cases and overall covid-19 status in the district, the district collector will take a decision today. In a conference the district collector Sunil Chavan said lockdown can be imposed, but considerable time will be provided to citizens to prepare themselves for it, he added. In the next high level meet, Police Commissioner, Municipal Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and other dignitaries would also attend.
Amid a rise in the tally of Covid-19 cases in Aurangabad, the health authorities have decided to meet tomorrow to decide whether a short lockdown is required to be enforced in the district, a senior official informed.
On the other hand, Aurangabad municipal commissioner Astik Kumar Pandey asserted that the administration is vigilant and closely monitoring the situation.
Notably yesterday, 459 fresh Covid-19 cases were reported from the Aurangabad district taking the total number of covid count to 52,103. Wherein, the number of active cases stands at 2910. The number of cases in other districts of the Marathwada region has also seen a surge.A total of 17 deaths were reported from March 1st till date, shared the sources.
