Mega hero Vaishnav Tej‘s debut film Uppena is gearing up for its worldwide theatrical release on 12th of this month. Interestingly, the film did some impressive pre-release business as Mythri Movie Makers managed to get reasonably good deals from distributors.
Reportedly, the theatrical rights of Uppena are valued at Rs 20.50 crores.
The film’s Nizam theatrical rights fetched Rs 6 crores while Ceeded and Andhra rights fetched Rs 3 crores, and Rs 10 crores respectively. Other region rights were sold for Rs 1.5 crores.
With Uppena’s worldwide theatrical rights valued at Rs 20.5 crores, the film will have to rake in over Rs 22 crores to breach the break-even mark.
This is one of the highest ever pre-release businesses for a debut hero’s film and the onus is on Uppena to deliver on the big stage.
The ticket prices have been hiked in the Telugu states. Single screen tickets are priced at Rs 150 and a few circuits in East Godavari region are pricing tickets at Rs 200. Even multiplexes have hiked the ticket price to Rs 200.
Trade reports say that Uppena might take a strong opening at the box office and the film is expected to rake in over Rs 7 crores on its opening day. Distributors are hoping for maximum recovery in the first weekend.
Uppena has Vaishnav Tej, Krithi Shetty, and Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi in pivotal roles. Mythri Movie Makers bankrolled it.
