The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has not faced a single substantial loss in the last 6 years, and has enjoyed high popularity and an undefeated majority in Telangana. However, the Dubbaka by-elections loss has now become a great deal of shame and disappointment for the ruling party of Telangana.
With the TRS losing the Dubbaka by-elections, every single finger is being pointed towards Chief Minister KCR, and his overconfidence over the fact that the TRS would easily win these by-elections. During the 2018 elections in Dubbaka, the TRS won with a staggering number of votes, at 62,500 votes. In these by-elections, the TRS could not beat its own record, and only received 61,302 votes.
S Sujatha, the wife of the late Ramalinga Reddy, whose sudden and unfortunate death led to the by-elections. KCR thought that Sujatha would easily win, based on the factor of sympathy, despite the fact that she has zero political experience. However, that did not turn out to be that way, and BJP’s Raghunandan Rao won with a considerable majority.
Minister Harish Rao campaigned aggressively for the elections, but the result turned out to be less than impressive, and many are saying that the TRS would have easily won if KCR did not neglect them due to his overconfidence. Maybe this will prove to be a wakeup call for KCR, and he would plan the future of TRS in a better way.
