While Telangana state lost 13 Crores per day on TSRTC strike, the state gained 907 Crores from Liquor shop license application fee alone! Telangana state raised a notification for all the investors who wants to have Liquor shop license to start the business. The application process got ended yesterday and a total of almost 48,385 application were received by the officials.
Each application costs 2 lakhs and the government won’t refund the money to the applications that are not selected. So, a total of 907 Crores is earned by the state government just on the applications. Last year, Telangana government got around 400 Crores from the applications and this year it raised by more than 100%. These applications are competing for 2216 shops in Telangana.
Analysts say that the reduction of Liquor shops in Andhra Pradesh and the controlled environment might be a reason for the raise in Telangana. More applications might have been received for the border regions of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
