Ranveer Singh’s upcoming sports drama “83” is one of the year’s most awaited films. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film tells the story of Team India’s victory at the 1983 cricket World Cup.
The makers today unveiled the trailer of the film, which looks quite intriguing. The video begins with the Indian side hesitating on the field. Ranveer, as Kapil, says at the press meet, that they are here to succeed.
Pankaj Tripathi, who plays the then-manager of the team PR Man Singh, tells Kapil, “We won freedom 35 years ago, but we are yet to win respect, captain.” The trailer also shows Kapil Dev hitting smashing sixes. Deepika, who plays his wife, supports him off the field.
83 will hit the screens on December 24 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Kamal Haasan’s Raajkamal Films International and Nagarjuna Akkineni’s Annapurna Studios in association with Reliance Entertainment to present the Tamil and Telugu versions, respectively. Prithviraj’s production and Kichcha Sudeepa’s Shalini Arts will present the film in Malayalam and Kannada versions.
